Born into a Kashmiri-Pandit family in Delhi, and partly raised in South London. Krishna Kaul began penning bars at 14 to connect with peers. He emerged in the mid-2000s as Young Prozpekt before making an impact in 2010 with “Kaisa Mera Desh”, one of India’s first rap videos to hit trending on YouTube at #2 overnight.A turning point arrived in 2013 when he signed with Contrabands (Universal/VH1/Hard Rock Cafe) and rebranded as KR$NA. His 2014 album Sellout featured the English-rap single “Last Night,” which peaked at #5 on VH1 India, also marking India’s first five-city hip-hop tour backed by a full band.After a brief hiatus, he returned in 2016 with the Hindi single “Vyanjan,” leading to collaboration with DNH Artists (now Kalamkaar), eventually becoming a partner in 2018. His film cameo in Gully Boy (2019) solidified his status as a key voice in Desi hip‑hop.Known for weaving multilingual bars, cultural commentary, technical precision, and stage presence, KR$NA has remained relevant, gracing festivals, releasing diss tracks, and expanding his sound. In April 2025, he announced his biggest milestone: partnering with Nas’s Mass Appeal imprint for a global release in May, drawing attention to the global potential of Desi rap.
