Pratik Sinha is an Indian software engineer and journalist who is known for being the co-founder of the non-profit fact-checking website Alt News in 2017 along with Mohammed Zubair.Growing up in Ahemdabad, Pratik used to visit Kolkata during his summer vacations.Pratik Sinhas parents founded the independent civil rights organisation named Jan Sangharsh Manch in Gujarat to address issues of labour and workers rights. The organisation is known for legally representing the 2002 Gujarat violence victims.Born to activist parents, Sinha developed political and social acumen at a very early age. In an interview, he said, I had a childhood where dinner-table conversations revolved around sociopolitical issues. So that was always at the back of my mind..He worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Ubiqtech Software Private Ltd, Bengaluru (2003-2005).He was a member of the technical staff at Arada Systems, Bengaluru, from 2004 to 2009. Donning multiple hats at Arada Systems, Pratik worked in various positions like Software Developer, Kernel Engineer, and Manager of the Enterprise Support Group.He has also held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Cloudleaf, Inc.Thereafter, he moved to the US.Later, he relocated to Vietnam, where he started working for the software development company Humbug in Vietnam as a freelancer in 2009.He started working as a Technical Coordinator at the multinational software outsourcing organisation InfoNam, Inc., Vietnam, in May 2012.
